Height: 47, Width: 36 cm
The Esquisse Series features nine carefully selected pieces derived from a drawing of the same name created by Kohei Nawa around 2000 while he was studying in the graduate program at Kyoto City University of Arts. These pieces are produced as silk screen prints.
Rather than simply reproducing the original images, these works focus on the texture and coloration of the ink, utilizing pigments typically found in red ink. Red has historically served as a universal pigment, often used to dye the fabric that envelops the deceased, symbolizing a connection between this world and the next. As the layers of the print accumulate, the colors become more organized and richer. The prints are slightly larger than the original drawings, giving them a distinct charm that sets them apart.
